12 and 26 January 2010, Leiden University: Two day training course on Innovation in the Intercultural Classroom

‘How can I create a dynamic learning environment in an intercultural educational setting?’

You will find answers to the above question during the course on ‘Innovation in the Intercultural Classroom’, as well as practical tips that you can use in your own intercultural classroom. This course is designed for beginning lecturers in higher education who teach groups containing international students.

Workshops 'The International Classroom in Leiden'

The Working Group International Classroom organized two workshops on the theme  the International Classroom in Leiden

First workshop:
On the 2nd of December 2008 a University wide workshop was held. A report was produced, with links to several presentations. The report includes six examples of Good Practice in Leiden which were presented in parallel sessions.

Second workshop:
On the 29th of May 2009 a second workshop took place, again highlighting a number of Good Practices. The report of the workshop again highlights eight Leiden Good Practices.

Seminar: Teaching the Chinese Learner

In 2006 a one day seminar on this topic was organized by ICLON and NUFFIC. Chinese students come from an educational culture which is quite different from ours. What are their expectations about teaching styles, classroom behavior, teacher-student relationships, paper writing and academic skills? What can teachers do to help students to live and learn well in their new environment?
