How to design a course
Do you need to develop a new course or to redesign or further develop one of your existing courses? In one half-day group session meeting and 4 hours of individual support, the ‘How to design a course’ training covers the entire design cycle to allow you to design or redesign your course on the basis of a sound analysis. The session and support also offer space to share your experiences and receive feedback on the various elements of your course design.
This training is also eminently suitable for lecturers who are not or not yet working on the BKO qualification but require support in designing or redesigning a study component.

Link to curriculum and basic design
Before you can design or redesign a course it is important to know what the use and relevance is of the course and how it ties in with the other courses in the curriculum. Once you have a clear idea about these matters, you can look at the basic design of your course on the basis of the concept of constructive alignment. During the first group meeting the basics of your course, challenges and possible solutions will be discussed. In the individual meetings this will be further developed together with the trainer of the course.
At the end of the training the participant is able to design a course that:
- is aligned with the outcomes, teaching methods and assessment methods
- links to other courses in the curriculum
- promotes partnership with colleagues
- is motivating for students and the lecturer(s)
- saves time for the lecturer
